[Netarchivesuite-devel] RE Any need for a NetarchiveSuite teleconference in December 2010?

Hi Christen and all,

There is no specific need for us to have a tele-conference. January 18th 
is great.

As a follow-up of our last phone call, here is some information about what 
is going on at BnF:

- we have been running version 3.14 since November 9 to test daily crawls 
of 77 news websites.
Version 3.14 has been configured with the parameter which by-pass bug 2059 
and everything
is working fine! We will go into production with this version on December 
8th with a small-scale 
architecture (1 pilot, 2 harvesters).

- for iteration 46, we have worked on FR 2084 which allow the use of 
queue-total-budget in place 
of QuotaEnforcer for crawl budget and FR 2083 which proposes to bundle 
PostgreSQL JDBC driver 
with NetarchiveSuite distribution. We will also work on a new FR to be 
able to include more information 
in the harvestInfo.xml (information that we need for preservation 
purposes). 
The rest of our development efforts is focused on migrating selected URL 
and metadata organised 
in Excel tables into NAS harvest definitions, configurations and seed 
lists to be able to start our 
ongoing thematic crawls end January/beginning of February.

- we still need to update documentation for version 3.14 but unfortunately 
did not have the time yet. Sorry...

- Nicolas and I have been thinking about a simple way to manage versions 
and branches. 
For the past few releases, we have been developing a large number of 
features and it really made sense 
to have separate branches to ease the developments. But  since for the 
upcoming releases, our contribution
will be more focused on a few FR, it would be more simple for us and also 
probably for you to use
the main trunk. If we ever need to contribute a large set of FR again, we 
could set up
another bnf-branch that Nicolas could merge after a review process. Do you 
agree?

Dear all
 
At last tele-conference we discussed whether a December tele-conference 
was needed as all institutions have low priority on NAS development for 
the rest of 2010.
 
I?ll suggest we postpone the next tele-conference to January 2011.
What about Tuesday January the 18th 2011 at 14:30?
 
 
At Netarkivet.dk all the effort for the rest of 2010 is in the area of 
Infra-structure (Mikis working on the SBForge platform) while the other 
developers are working on completing the Wayback platform for Researchers. 
Furthermore they are also working on converting old Web collections to 
WARC format before the collections are transferred to Netarkivet.dk. 
 
Netarkivet.dk is of course also in the process of making the top priority 
wishes for 2011 and 2012 based on the wish lists from the Vienna workshop.
