<font size=2 face="sans-serif">Hello all,</font><br><br><font size=2 face="sans-serif">Since May we have being experimenting
with a working group of 8 librarians to harvest ephemeral news (in French,
"actualité éphémère"). It aims to harvest websites related to
punctual or unexpected events. This does not necessarely replace existing
processes for emergency harvesting.</font><br><br><font size=2 face="sans-serif">For example, some of the first subjects
chosen are the football world cup, the UK royal wedding, the Tour de France,
the festival d'Avignon and the Benalla Affair. It complements the daily
harvesting of news sites (newspapers, magazines,..), mainly with social
networks (essentially Twitter). 74 seeds have been created, some of them
crawled for six or seven days, and others for one or two months. 35 are
still active.</font><br><br><font size=2 face="sans-serif">Based on the first experiences we will
decide if our harvesting workflow has to be adapted for this type of crawl
or if the existing harvest definitions are sufficient.</font><br><br><font size=2 face="sans-serif">Best regards,</font><br><font size=2 face="sans-serif">The BnF digital legal deposit team</font><br><br><font face="sans-serif"><hr />
